Apakah Yang Menjadikan Kita Anak Malaysia?

What makes us Malaysian.
MAS [Malaysia Airlines] Merdeka commercial.

Really, what makes us Malaysian.
To be frank, after 1/2 semester @ 2 months here,
the feelings of homesickness has becoming more and more excruciating.

I mean, yeah, for example,
Taiwanese are way polite than we Malaysians are. I mean, i still couldn't get use
to not hearing shouts of "Kopi Peng (iced coffee), Milo Peng (iced milo)etc.
You will be greet with a loud and polite "Welcome" the moment you step near the
shops. Even after you're done, they will bid you sincere thanks.

But being loud, a little yucky (duh, Malaysian restaurants reuse all their utensils)
and among others, but isn't that are the things that give us a really unique
personality?

Okay, i know i kinda posted something on how i hate the politics and
racism stuff in Malaysia, but by setting them aside,
there's the friendliness, the warm feeling of the weird "rojak (mashed up)"
language. Where in the world would you find a country where everyone speaks
in a language made up of up to 5 language? (Chinese, Malay, English, Hokkien, Canton)

Here's an example.

"Why you like that one?"
"Want to got to the mamak to get teh tarik? (Indian milk tea)"
"Lu punya anak pukul wa punya anak!"
"Mana eh ane kuan eh? Mai la, aiyo!"
"Amoi, ai beh roti mai?"

See, we Malaysians are unique in many ways.
It's what distinguished us from being stereotypes.
I see how Taiwanese are so proud at their own language,
they scrutinize my way of speaking. I even hurt my tongue trying to speak in a
fake Taiwanese accent.

Despite our occasional rudeness, strict religion values,
we are still Malaysian, and it is up to us to protect our unique styles and ways of living.

(I know the post sounds crappy since i post this on a slightly chilly, sleepy afternoon. Sorry about that.)
