田鸡 (Field Chicken?? Hahaha!!!)


I went to the wet market with my mom this morning
and saw some (ack! gruesome!!) cuttings and killings.

Some dude were killing some frog like thingie...
called "tien ji" in Chinese.
Supposedly they're some kinda frog.
From what i just saw, they're huge with big beady eyes..

But what made me puke (the Jawa Noodle i had this morning)
was the sight of the dude killing off the frogs.
It was even worst than when i dissected the huge mice
last year.

Below is the description of the frog in Chinese..
简介:又称蛙、水鸡、坐鱼,包括普通青蛙、牛蛙等。因其肉质细嫩胜似鸡肉,故而称田鸡。田鸡含有丰富的蛋白质、糖类、水分和少量脂肪,肉味鲜美,春天鲜、秋天香,是餐桌上的佳肴。但因它们是有益的动物,而且现在也有了专供食用的养殖田鸡,故建议大家还是不要食用野生的田鸡了。

foods r nice when eaten without witnessing the horrid culling. in cantonese its thin kai. some r quite big n with really ugly skins. dats y its skin r removed n never cooked together.

Hmmm~ koala sounded expert with cooking frogs~ Well, it is a type of frog. tien ji sounded more delicious than xing hua perhaps~ ;) i have tried it as porridge and also fried. Yummy!!
